Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
