In the latest financial plan, we made the right choices for Britain, lowering power bills with £150 off bills, protecting the NHS and combating the problem of impoverished children by eliminating the two-child cap. We also ensured that the income generated through taxes was done fairly, with each person chipping in but those with the largest means bearing an appropriate burden.

As a result of the choices we made, the budget fostered greater economic stability, driving down inflation and sovereign debt returns. This is vital for protecting our public services, when one pound in every ten expended by government goes on debt interest.

Advancing Financial Initiatives

The plan reinforces the action we have already taken to improve the economy: allocating £120 billion in additional funding in such things as roads, rail and energy; implementing major regulatory changes in a generation to support developers, not obstructionists; supporting the expansion of Heathrow and Gatwick; and signing trade deals with the EU, India and the US.

In combination, these have allowed us to surpass our economic projections.

Revitalizing Our Country

As I outlined at the party conference, the government’s purpose is exactly the renewal of our economy, our communities and our state. Through this approach, we will end decline and rebuild trust in our country.

We will confront those on the political extremes who only offer grievance and whose approach would lead to additional deterioration. I want to emphasize, turning on the borrowing taps or reimposing spending cuts – that is the politics of decline and I cannot endorse it.

A Comprehensive Growth Mission

In a speech on Monday, I will place the budget in context within the broader economic renewal on which the government will be evaluated upon conclusion of this parliament.

To accomplish the national renewal we seek, we must do more to encourage growth, to address idleness among young people and to aim for stronger worldwide collaboration with our trading partners.

Bureaucracy Reduction Effort

Our expansion agenda will include a renewed focus on removing superfluous red tape. Commonly it has fallen to those on the left who have favored regulation, but there is nothing advanced in regulations which serve only to increase the cost of living for the poorest, to impede commercial development unnecessarily, or prevent a Labour government achieving its aims.

That is why I am asking the business secretary to confront the variety of excessive additions and superfluous bureaucracy that raise expenditures and obstruct our industrial strategy.

Welfare State Modernization

Financial revitalization likewise requires that we must continue to overhaul social security. We took over an ineffective structure that caused youngsters to lack basic nutrition and which dismissed adolescents as incapable of employment.

We must not accept either part of that unsuccessful conservative approach. That is why we will do more to assist youth in realizing their capabilities.

Because if you are ignored in your early career, if you are not given the support you need to overcome your mental health issues, or if you are merely dismissed because you are neurodivergent or disabled, then it can imprison you in a loop of unemployment and reliance for decades.

This costs the country money, is detrimental to our output, but far more significantly, it eliminates prospects and disregards ability. Any Labour government worthy of the name should not overlook it.

That is why we have tasked a previous healthcare official to make implementable proposals to help young people with health conditions access work, training or education – making certain they get help to succeed instead of excluded.

Worldwide Business Development

Ultimately, we must take further action to help our businesses conduct global commerce. There is no credible economic vision for Britain that does not place us as a welcoming, business-oriented country.

We need to acknowledge the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement significantly hurt our economy. You do not need to have a PhD in economics to know that erecting unnecessary trade barriers with your primary business associate will hurt growth and raise the cost of living.

Thus an aspect of our economic renewal will be maintaining progress in the direction of a closer trading relationship with the EU. If we can get cheaper food, improve development and produce work opportunities by having a closer relationship with the EU, we should.

A Meaningful Approach for Major Issues

A financial plan founded on equitable decisions for Britain must be reinforced with commitment to achieve the economic renewal that the country needs.

Via executing a major, confident protracted program, not a set of short-term remedies, we will rejuvenate the country. We should evolve anew a serious people, with a important leadership, capable together of doing difficult things to retake charge of our prospects.
