Los Angeles Experiences Unprecedented High Temperatures Just One Week After Severe Winter Weather.
In the wake of significant rainfall that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, LA is now seeing unseasonably warm temperatures for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
On Friday midday, the temperature reached ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in central LA, according to meteorologists. This breaks the old record for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was recorded in the previous year.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were highlighted on official graphics for the region.
Public Health Alerts
The weather service stated that Friday's conditions posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their recommendations included:
- Staying hydrated.
- Avoiding outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
- Ensuring you do not leave anyone unattended in a parked vehicle.
A Sharp Reversal
This dramatic increase in heat comes on the heels of a massive winter storm that battered the region recently. That system unleashed thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to the mountains, leading to flash flood warnings for many residents.

Weekend Outlook
Looking ahead some relief is expected. Readings were forecast to fall to around 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) in the city by overnight.
Other locales that hit 90°F were Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Elsewhere, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to see the high 80s.
For the weekend, central Los Angeles can expect temperatures in the eighties, with a further cooldown expected for the start of March.
