Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
