Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating violence and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose work have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of society through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our shared bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
