Hodgkinson achieved her fastest time of one minute 54.61 seconds the previous season in the British capital.

The Olympic champion finished her 800m season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured third place at the World Championships last month, dominated an impressive win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably less of a struggle for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The atmosphere out there is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second edition, introducing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Previous champions took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - one of the largest prize purses in athletics.

The event also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
