Edwards and O'Neil Included in Wolves Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless start to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is additionally emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
