Disaster Occurs as Accidental Detonation at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Claims Nine Fatalities
A tragic explosion at a security post in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has led to the fatalities of nine individuals and wounding to thirty-two others, according to police declarations.
The event occurred when a stockpile of confiscated explosives unintentionally detonated during management operations.

The blast took place on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam police station, where blast substances taken from the Faridabad area in the northern state of Haryana province were being kept briefly.
Local security director declared that the detonation substances were scheduled for technical investigation when a "extremely tragic" incident during handling caused their blast at approximately 11:20 PM local.
Official Declarations
Law enforcement officials verified that this was an "inadvertent blast" and rather than a terror incident. "Different conjectures regarding the reason of this event is unneeded," emphasized the police chief during a journalist meeting.
The police station experienced significant harm from the blast, with nearby constructions also being affected by the intense detonation.
Impact and Fatalities
Multiple vehicles were "engulfed in flames and turned into burned shells, with debris scattered across the site," according to police accounts.
"The power of the explosion was such that some physical fragments were found in close-by residences, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the security post," reported an authority informant.
The bulk of the fatalities were security officials, along with technical investigation team, two evidence documentation specialists, and a clothing professional who was with the team.
Government Reaction
The territory's Administrative Head stated commiserations and declared that an probe had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have ordered a probe to determine the origin of the unintentional blast. Profoundly distressed by the fatalities of important persons due to profoundly sorrowful unintentional explosion at Nowgam security post in Srinagar. My sympathies to the bereaved families. I pray for quick healing of the harmed," stated the authority on online channels.
