Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season due to the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the third set in the match with Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
